Ugandan Research Team Visit to the UK

As part of the INIFIRES collaboration, we were pleased to welcome Eric and Esther from the Ugandan research team for a multi-site visit to the UK, including Teesside University and the University of Greenwich. The visit provided valuable opportunities for academic exchange, project development, and cross-cultural learning.

Key Activities During the Visit:

  • Guest Lecture: Eric and Esther delivered a guest lecture and met with academics across both institutions to share insights and foster interdisciplinary dialogue.
  • Games Team Meeting: The team engaged with the Games Research Group to explore interactive approaches to education and engagement.
  • Legal and Ethical Training: Nadia and Eric led a session on the complexities of researching undetected offending, focusing on legal and ethical considerations.
  • Ethics Proposal Finalisation: The full team collaborated to refine and prepare the ethics submission for the next phase of the project.
  • Safeguarding Policy Development: Joint refinement of the None in Three Safeguarding Policy to ensure cultural relevance for the Ugandan context.
  • Safeguarding Training: Esther participated in targeted safeguarding training led by Nadia.
  • Survey Development and Piloting: Nadia, Eric, and Esther worked together to set up and pilot the online survey tool for upcoming data collection.

This visit strengthened international collaboration, advanced key project milestones, and deepened shared understanding of safeguarding, ethics, and research practice across contexts.
